TAR Group bags grand prize in parol-making
Last December 16, 2022, TAR Group from Virac, Catanduanes was declared the champion in this year’s Giya sa Pasko: Abaca Parol-making Competition, bringing home the grand prize of P150,000.
The Second Prize (P100,000) and Third Prize (P70,000) were awarded to Calatagan High School and 3T Fam respectively. Non-placers each received P20,000 as a consolation prize.
Meanwhile, Sibacungan Women’s Association was declared the fan-favorite for garnering the most likes on social media and votes from the public, while 3T Fam bagged the Stand-out Team Award for having the best yell, costume and story concept during their parol presentation.
A total of 21 groups, organizations, and offices from the province participated in the said competition. The parol entries were made from indigenous materials with abaca as the main component.
